Maceração (maceration) is a reflection about the evolutionary process, a lighting experience with animal skulls.
More information about the process: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maceration_(bone)
Along history, Man has breed animals for many different purposes. He domesticated species which used in all possible ways, from using them for agriculture, using their skins and their own consumption. Man developed new ways to monetize them, including some genetic changes. Nowadays, it’s difficult to imagine our life without the presence of some animal species. However, in this modern society, do we really know these animals we consume daily?
DO WE REALLY KNOW WHAT WE EAT?
I want to create a parallel between the “hunting trophies” walls proudly displayed on the hunters houses and these animals consumed by all of us every day, putting them on the same level of contemplation.
Maceração uses skulls from the following animals:
. Capra hircus (goat)
. Bos taurus taurus (cow)
. Sus domesticus (pig)
. Sus scofra (boar)
. Ovis aries (sheep)
Important note: no animals were killed purposely for this project were collected from butchers, abattoirs, or found in nature.
